Cavan Scott Investigates... Topless Scouse Saleswomen

OK, now many people find this hard to believe but I am a journalist by profession and so how could I ignore the call of my ink-slinging spider-sense when I read the following fact on Stunning Stuff.com:

"Topless saleswomen are legal in Liverpool, England, but only in tropical fish stores."

A bit of googling later I found the same certitude repeated on a dozen or so websites and cropping up on various e-newsletters. So, after offering a prayer to Saint Sarah Jane Smith, I have begun an investigation to find out if this freaky factoid is complete codswallop or harsh reality.

My first step has been to contact Liverpool county council asking them whether this is a dreadful hoax or whether topless liver girls are serving the tropical fish community in the city.

I shall of course keep you informed and report back with any reply I receive from the council... Watch, as they say, this space.
